USDA bans federal funding for solar and wind on farmland

Original: "Trump's # USDA 🚨just banned fed funding for # solar & # wind on farmers' own cropland. Eff Oct 16th. R Rusk, a MI dairy

The USDA under Trump has barred federal funding for solar and wind projects on farmers' own cropland, effective October 16th. Michigan dairy farmer R Rusk applied for an $85,000 solar grant to cover 80% of his farm's electricity but was never awarded it, while Illinois' Book Family Farms had already built two solar arrays before the change.

Why now: Farmers are reacting to a sudden cutoff of federal renewable energy support that directly affects their operations and finances.
