German Social Democrats urged to quit coalition with Merz's Union
Original: @ dab Die # spd muss raus aus der Koalition. Die # union ist ein totes Pferd, das man nicht mehr reiten sollte. # Pistor
Supporters of Germany's SPD are calling on the party to leave the governing coalition with Friedrich Merz's Union, arguing the CDU/CSU is politically finished and that staying two more years would only help the AfD. Commentators suggest Boris Pistorius or Manuela Schwesig as alternative SPD figures to rally around, reflecting frustration among centre-left voters over cooperation with the Merz government and fears of far-right gains.
Why now: Frustration with Germany's SPD-Union coalition is growing on the centre-left, with debates over whether the SPD should break with Merz to stop the AfD.
