Women gain ground in Brazil's Congress
Original: Women gain ground in Brazil’s Congress
Women increased their representation in Brazil's Congress in the latest elections, according to reporting by Valor International. The gains mark continued, though incremental, progress for female politicians in a legislature where men still hold the large majority of seats. Observers see the trend as a slow shift in a political system long dominated by male candidates.
Why now: New election results showing increased female representation in Brazil's legislature are drawing attention to gender balance in politics.
