Israeli newspaper Maariv reports that US officials urged Israel to launch a unilateral strike on Iran during talks held over the past two weeks. According to the report, Washington wanted Israel to assume the political risks of military action ahead of the midterm elections, believing Israel might favor striking before its own October date.
Why now: New reporting suggests the US sought to shift the political risk of a strike on Iran onto Israel ahead of elections.
