More than 500 trees are set to be cut down at a Washington, D.C. golf club that President Trump wants to renovate, according to a New York Times report. The plan is drawing attention because of the scale of the tree removal and questions over environmental review at a site with public park connections. Critics see it as another example of Trump prioritizing his golf business interests; supporters frame it as a routine course upgrade.
Why now: The large-scale tree removal at a presidentially connected golf course raises environmental and conflict-of-interest concerns.
