New book examines why Romanian theatre artists informed on colleagues

Original: 📚 Iulia Popovici a cercetat zeci de mii de file din arhivele Securității pentru a înțelege de ce oamenii de teatru dădea

Researcher Iulia Popovici has combed through tens of thousands of pages of Securitate archives to understand why Romanian theatre figures filed informant notes on their own colleagues. The resulting book was launched backstage at the National Theatre of Bucharest and will be presented on 18 October at the National Theatre Festival, drawing attention to theatre's complicity under communism.

Why now: The book's launch at the National Theatre Festival has sparked fresh debate about collaboration with the Securitate in Romania's theatre world.
