New book examines Romanian theatre informers in Securitate archives

Original: 📚 Iulia Popovici a cercetat zeci de mii de file din arhivele Securității pentru a înțelege de ce oamenii de teatru dădea

Iulia Popovici has researched tens of thousands of pages from the Securitate archives to understand why theatre professionals informed on their colleagues under Romania's communist regime. Her book, launched backstage at the National Theatre of Bucharest, will be presented on 18 October at the National Theatre Festival. The subject touches a sensitive chapter of Romanian cultural history and the moral questions it still raises.

Why now: The book's presentation at the National Theatre Festival and its revelations about informers in the theatre world have drawn attention.
