Starlink's costly entry into India's cheap data market
Original: India Has The World’s Cheapest Data. Starlink Wants In? > Then: ₹268/GB > Now: ₹8/GB Starlink hardware alone is reported
India has the world's cheapest mobile data, with prices falling from ₹268 per GB to around ₹8 per GB over the years. Starlink is now seeking a foothold in the market, but its hardware alone is reported to cost over ₹30,000, raising doubts about Elon Musk's claims that the satellite service can reach Indian villages affordably.
Why now: People are debating whether Starlink's high hardware cost can compete with India's ultra-cheap data plans.
