EU Parliament urges listing Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist group
Original: EU Parliament adopts resolution calling for Muslim Brotherhood to be added to the EU terror list # terrorism https://www
The European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling for the Muslim Brotherhood to be added to the European Union's list of terrorist organisations. The move, reported by the Jerusalem Post, marks a significant political step in the EU's debate over how to classify the movement, though actual designation would require agreement from member state governments. Critics and supporters of the listing are likely to clash over questions of evidence and the implications for civil liberties and foreign policy.
Why now: The Parliament's formal call to designate a major Islamist movement as a terrorist organisation is a contentious political development with wide implications.
