UK prime minister says Russia interfered in Brexit vote
Original: Russia behind Britain's Brexit vote, UK prime minister admits for first time
The UK prime minister has, for the first time, acknowledged that Russia was behind the Brexit vote, according to reports citing government figures. Burns/Minister Burnham said it was important to put the facts clearly on the record, arguing that acknowledging Russian interference could help voters in Germany and France understand that some of their politics is instigated by Russia, described as an enemy.
Why now: A senior admission about Russian interference in a major democratic vote is politically explosive across Europe.
