Russia hits Ukrainian power plant hours after Trump announces energy ceasefire
Original: Russia strikes power plant in Ukraine after Trump announces energy ceasefire
Russian forces struck a power plant in Ukraine shortly after Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to stop targeting energy infrastructure. The strike undermines the reported ceasefire understanding and raises doubts about whether either side will honour the partial truce. The announcement had been presented as a first step toward a broader pause in fighting.
Why now: The strike happened immediately after a high-profile ceasefire announcement, casting doubt on the deal's credibility.
