Hacker News debates routers with DD-WRT pre-installed
Original: Ask HN: Do you want a router that has DD-WRT pre-installed?
A question on Hacker News is asking readers whether there would be demand for consumer routers shipping with the open-source DD-WRT firmware already installed. The query has drawn attention from networking enthusiasts who typically flash such firmware themselves, and it touches on wider interest in user-controlled home networking gear over stock manufacturer software.
Why now: Enthusiasts are weighing whether pre-flashed open-source routers would be a convenient alternative to manually installing DD-WRT.
