Hackers debate demand for routers with DD-WRT pre-installed
Original: Ask HN: Do you want a router that has DD-WRT pre-installed?
A question posted on Hacker News asks whether people would want a router that ships with the DD-WRT open-source firmware already installed, drawing discussion among networking enthusiasts. Respondents are weighing the convenience of skipping manual firmware flashing against concerns about vendor support, update practices, and whether pre-installed custom firmware would be kept current.
Why now: Enthusiasts who currently flash DD-WRT themselves are debating whether a pre-installed option would be trustworthy and worth buying.
