United States formally withdraws from World Health Organization

Original: BREAKING: The United States withdraws from the World Health Organization TODAY, one year after President Trump's histori

The United States is leaving the World Health Organization, one year after President Trump signed an executive order initiating the withdrawal, ending 77 years of American membership in the UN health agency. Supporters are celebrating the move as a reclaiming of sovereignty and an end to funding an agency they view as mismanaged, while critics are expected to warn of damage to global health cooperation and pandemic preparedness.

Why now: The withdrawal takes effect today, exactly one year after Trump's executive order set the process in motion.
