Original: NAZA: Netanyahu orders identification and prosecution of film’s interviewees
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the identification and prosecution of soldiers and officers interviewed in NAZA, a documentary produced with The Guardian. He called for a criminal investigation into the interviewees, framing the film as a matter for Israeli legal authorities. The move has drawn attention amid ongoing international scrutiny of the conduct of Israeli forces.
Why now: A sitting prime minister seeking to criminally prosecute soldiers for speaking in a press-produced documentary is an unusual press-freedom and military accountability story.
