2026 Wards 10 Best Engines awards go fully electrified
Original: Historic shift: 2026 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems awards go entirely to electrified powertrains
For the first time in its history, the 2026 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list consists entirely of electrified powertrains, with no pure internal-combustion engines making the cut. The milestone is being read as a sign of how far electric and hybrid propulsion have come, and of how thoroughly the automotive industry's centre of gravity has shifted toward electrification.
Why now: The announcement marks the first time a long-running industry benchmark has recognised only electrified powertrains, signalling a major turning point for the car industry.
