2026 Wards 10 Best Engines awards go all-electric
Original: Historic shift: 2026 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems awards go entirely to electrified powertrains
For the first time, WardsAuto's 2026 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list consists entirely of electrified powertrains, with no conventional gasoline or diesel engines making the cut. The trade publication, which has judged the awards for decades, called it a historic shift, underscoring how quickly hybrids and electric systems have come to dominate the US automotive market.
Why now: The complete absence of combustion engines from a long-running industry benchmark marks a milestone in the auto industry's transition to electrification.
