South Korean broadcaster MBC is examining a political rift framed by the slogan that South Korea 'is an independent nation' and should 'reject servile diplomacy'. The phrase, directed at the country's diplomatic posture toward the United States and Japan, has become a rallying cry in a dispute over how independently Seoul should conduct foreign policy.
