Global Desire to Migrate to the U.S. Hits New Low
Original: Desire to Move Permanently to U.S. at New Low
A new Gallup poll finds the desire to move permanently to the United States has dropped to its lowest recorded level. The findings suggest weakening attraction to American life among potential migrants worldwide, a notable shift given the country's historical role as a top destination. Observers are linking the decline to perceptions of economic, political and immigration conditions in the U.S.
Why now: A major polling organisation has just released data showing record-low appetite for permanent migration to the United States.
