PS5 hack adds native PS2 disc support and 4K upscaling

Original: PS5 hack delivers native PS2 disc support and 4K upscaling where Sony refused to

A homebrew developer has hacked the PlayStation 5 to read original PS2 discs natively, upscaling them to 4K, something Sony never offered on the console. Following the PS2 breakthrough, the developer says PS3 disc support is next. Gamers are praising the workaround as delivering backwards compatibility Sony declined to build in, and the news is drawing wide attention in gaming and tech communities.

Why now: The hack adds long-requested backwards compatibility that Sony refused to provide, and promises PS3 support next.
