PS5 hack adds native PS2 disc support and 4K upscaling

Original: PS5 hack delivers native PS2 disc support and 4K upscaling where Sony refused to

Homebrew developers have cracked Sony's PS5 to run original PS2 discs natively, with 4K upscaling, bypassing the company's limited official backward compatibility. The breakthrough follows earlier PS2 emulation progress on the console, and the same developers say PS3 disc support is expected to come next. Gamers are praising the workaround, noting Sony declined to offer this level of legacy support itself despite the hardware being technically capable.

Why now: A homebrew breakthrough delivers long-requested backward compatibility features Sony never provided, which excites the gaming community.
