Estonia opens up source code of its online voting system
Original: Source code of the Estonian online voting system
Estonia's internet voting platform IVXV, used in national elections, is publicly available on GitHub. The open-source release lets anyone inspect how online ballots are cast, encrypted and counted. Commenters are debating the security of internet voting, with Estonia frequently cited as the leading example of nationwide online elections.
Why now: Interest in election integrity and the rarity of a fully open-source national internet voting system is drawing scrutiny of the code.
