Settler attack on diplomats tests Australia's response
Original: Get ready for another "strongly worded statement for the cameras" from Penny Wong, Australia, and zero actions afterward
Israeli settlers attacked a group of European diplomats visiting the West Bank during the olive harvest, drawing international condemnation. Attention has turned to how governments, including Australia's under Foreign Minister Penny Wong, will respond, with critics predicting Canberra will issue a strongly worded statement without following up with concrete action against Israel.
Why now: The assault on diplomats during the West Bank olive harvest has put Western governments' willingness to act beyond rhetoric in the spotlight.
