US ambassador brands settler attack on American photojournalist 'terror'
Original: US ambassador to Israel calls West Bank settler attack on American photojournalist ‘terror’
The US ambassador to Israel has described an attack by West Bank settlers on an American photojournalist as an act of terror. The unusually strong language from a senior US official in Israel has drawn attention to rising settler violence against journalists and civilians in the occupied West Bank, and sparked debate over Washington's response to attacks on its own citizens.
Why now: The rare use of the word 'terror' by a senior US diplomat against Israeli settlers is striking amid heightened tensions in the West Bank.
