'Disavow the Brotherhood' Jokes Spread Online
Original: "Disavow the Brotherhood" jokes
Social media users are joking with the phrase 'Disavow the Brotherhood,' riffing on the language of formal political condemnation. The jokes play on how parties and officials are often pressured to publicly disavow controversial groups or figures, turning that serious ritual language into a meme. Little verified context surrounds the trend, but it reflects broader frustration with political loyalty tests and performative denunciations.
Why now: The phrase echoes current debates about political purity tests and public demands to denounce groups, making it ripe for satire.
