Rubio says the war is about Donetsk
Original: Rubio says war about Donetsk
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that the war between Russia and Ukraine is fundamentally about Donetsk, putting the contested eastern Ukrainian region at the centre of any peace discussion. His remarks draw attention to Moscow's demand for control of the Donbas and the question of whether Ukraine would be pressed to cede territory as part of a settlement.
Why now: His framing of the conflict's core issue fuels debate over US-led peace efforts and possible territorial concessions.
