There is no official XScreenSaver GitHub repository
A warning is circulating that no official XScreenSaver repository exists on GitHub, pointing users to the repository at github.com/xscreensaver-official/xscreensaver as questionable. XScreenSaver, the long-running Linux and macOS screensaver collection by Jamie Zawinski, is traditionally distributed through jwz.org. The discussion urges developers to verify sources before installing, as unofficial mirrors can carry modified or malicious code.
Why now: Concern about fake or unofficial mirrors of popular open-source projects delivering malicious code.
