Bessent says Democratic Congress could do little to block Trump agenda

Original: Ahead of elections, Bessent says a Democrat-led Congress could do little to stop Trump agenda

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent argued that even if Democrats win control of Congress in the upcoming elections, they would have little power to stop President Trump's agenda. The remarks, carried by Reuters and other outlets, frame the midterm contest as unlikely to check the administration's policy course. The comments come as both parties contest for congressional majorities.

Why now: The midterm elections are approaching and the remarks speak to whether a Democratic Congress could constrain the administration.
