Iran security chief rejects moving enriched uranium abroad
Original: Iran security chief rejects moving enriched uranium out of country
Iran's security chief has rejected any proposal to move the country's stockpile of enriched uranium out of Iran. The declaration rules out a key demand often floated in negotiations over Tehran's nuclear programme and signals that Iran intends to keep its enriched material on domestic territory, a stance likely to complicate diplomatic efforts over its nuclear activities.
Why now: Iran's nuclear programme and its enriched uranium stockpile remain central to ongoing diplomatic tensions.
