Black Pilot's Wings Dropped in Coffee by "Quota" Squadron
Original: “Quota!” Squadron Dropped Black Pilot’s Wings in Coffee — Storm Made Her Fly Their Commander Home
A Black military pilot says squadron members dropped her wings into her coffee while calling her a "quota" hire, and that the same unit was later forced to rely on her to fly their commander home through a storm. The story has drawn heavy attention online, with readers treating it as a pointed example of racism undercutting itself.
Why now: People are sharing the striking irony of a squadron mocking a pilot as a diversity hire then needing her skill in an emergency.
