Iran's 'Missile Man' Appointed Defence Minister Amid Nuclear Remarks
Original: 'Over 50%...': Iran's Nuclear Bombshell As Tehran's 'Missile Man' Becomes Defence Minister | Vantage
Iran has appointed the figure widely known as Tehran's 'Missile Man' as its new defence minister, a move drawing international attention given his central role in the country's missile programme. The appointment comes alongside remarks attributed to Iranian officials suggesting the country has enriched uranium to levels over 50%, intensifying concerns about the trajectory of Iran's nuclear programme and regional security.
Why now: The combination of a key missile figure taking the defence portfolio and talk of uranium enriched beyond 60%-threshold levels is fuelling fresh concern over Iran's nuclear ambitions.
