Iran's 'Missile Man' Named Defence Minister Amid Nuclear Claim
Original: 'Over 50%...': Iran's Nuclear Bombshell As Tehran's 'Missile Man' Becomes Defence Minister | Vantage
Iran has appointed a figure dubbed Tehran's 'Missile Man' as its new defence minister, a move drawing international attention given his role in the country's missile programme. The appointment comes alongside a claim that Iran has enriched uranium to over 50% purity, well beyond civilian needs and close to weapons-grade levels, intensifying concerns about the direction of its nuclear programme.
Why now: The combination of a hardline defence appointment and an enrichment claim near weapons-grade levels is stoking fears of nuclear escalation.
