IDF maps home of attacker who wounded envoy's son at Bell Checkpoint
Original: IDF maps residence of terrorist who wounded envoy's son at Bell Checkpoint
The Israeli military is mapping the residence of a Palestinian attacker accused of shooting and wounding the son of a foreign envoy at the Bell (Etzion) checkpoint in the West Bank. Mapping a militant's home is a routine preliminary step that often precedes punitive measures such as demolition or arrest operations. Israeli officials frame the move as part of counter-terrorism policy; such measures are regularly criticised by Palestinians and rights groups.
Why now: The attack on a diplomat's son at a major West Bank checkpoint and the expected Israeli response have drawn fresh attention to escalating violence in the region.
