Premier League panel backs Struijk red card despite FA overturn
Original: Prem panel backs Struijk red card even though FA overturned suspension
A Premier League independent panel has upheld the decision to send Leeds captain Liam Cooper's teammate Pascal Struijk off, even though the FA later overturned the three-match suspension that followed the red card. The ruling means the dismissal itself stands, but Struijk will not serve a ban, leaving a notable discrepancy between the two football authorities.
Why now: The conflict between the panel upholding the red card and the FA overturning the suspension is striking to football fans.
