Congressional candidate Brad Lander detained by IDF during West Bank olive harvest
Original: Congressional candidate Lander detained by IDF while picking olives in West Bank
Brad Lander, a US congressional candidate, was detained by Israeli forces while participating in an olive harvest with Palestinian farmers in the West Bank. News of the detention spread quickly, drawing attention to his presence in the region and prompting discussion of the treatment of international activists and solidarity volunteers during the annual olive harvest season.
Why now: The detention of an American political candidate by a foreign military is unusual and politically charged news.
