Original: Warhound raises $200M to engineer war dogs and arm them with Anduril gear
Warhound, a startup founded by Ben Lamm, has raised $200 million to genetically engineer dogs for military use and equip them with hardware from defense tech company Anduril. The funding announcement has drawn attention for its unusual mix of biotech and weapons development, with commenters flagging the ethical questions raised by engineering animals specifically for combat roles.
Why now: A large funding round combining genetic engineering of animals with military hardware is an unusual and ethically charged development.
