AI-Assisted Paper Cites Nonexistent TorrentFreak Article on Z-Library
Original: AI-Assisted Paper on Z-Library Cites a TorrentFreak Article That Doesn't Exist
An academic paper about Z-Library, written with AI assistance, has been found to cite a TorrentFreak article that never existed. The fabricated reference is being taken as a fresh example of AI hallucination in scholarly writing, where language models confidently invent plausible-looking sources. The case is drawing attention to the risks of using AI tools for research without verifying citations.
Why now: It feeds ongoing concern about AI-generated fake citations in academic work.
