Woman in attack ad pleaded guilty to endangering her own children
Original: Woman in ad who said a Democrat endangers kids pleaded guilty to endangering kids
Shellie Flockhart, featured in an ad accusing Iowa Democratic House candidate Sarah Trone Garriott of being "dangerous" for kids, pleaded guilty to child endangerment. Authorities said she drove drunk with her children in the car in 2017. Critics are pointing to the irony that the ad's messenger faced the very charge it leveled at the candidate, drawing attention to the race in Iowa.
Why now: The irony of an attack ad's spokesperson having a guilty plea for the same accusation she made is drawing widespread attention during the campaign.
