Albanese accuses Israel of shaping genocide media coverage
Original: "Media in the time of genocide" - Francesca Albanese Israel uses 3 media patterns: 1 Systematic killing of Palestinian
UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, in remarks titled 'Media in the time of genocide', says Israel relies on three patterns to control coverage of the Gaza war: the systematic killing of Palestinian journalists, a regime of propaganda and censorship, and complicity from global media that amplify Israeli narratives while silencing Palestinians. She cited the BBC as an example of outlets accused of amplifying Israel's framing of the conflict.
Why now: Ongoing controversy over coverage of the Gaza war and the safety of Palestinian journalists keeps her remarks circulating.
