Albanese accuses Israel of shaping genocide coverage through media patterns
Original: "Media in the time of genocide" - Francesca Albanese Israel uses 3 media patterns: 1 Systematic killing of Palestinian
UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, speaking under the title 'Media in the time of genocide', accused Israel of using three media patterns: the systematic killing of Palestinian journalists, a regime of propaganda and censorship, and complicity from global media that amplify Israeli narratives while silencing Palestinians. She singled out the BBC as an example of the third pattern, and her remarks are drawing attention and debate online.
Why now: Albanese's pointed criticism of Israel and mainstream outlets like the BBC is fueling debate over media coverage of the Gaza war.
