Scientists Discover Ancient Rainforest Frozen Beneath Antarctica
Original: Scientists Found a Rainforest Frozen Under Antarctica
Scientists have found evidence of an ancient rainforest preserved under the ice of Antarctica, revealing that the now-frozen continent once supported dense forest ecosystems. The discovery, made through soil core samples, points to a much warmer climate in Antarctica's distant past and offers new insight into how the planet's climate has changed over millions of years.
Why now: The idea of a lush rainforest hidden under Antarctic ice is a striking scientific find with big implications for understanding past climate change.
