Leaked Audio: Flock CEO Dismisses Backlash to Police Surveillance Company
Original: In Leaked Audio, Flock CEO Tells Cops Backlash to the Company Isn't Real
Leaked audio recordings show Flock Safety's CEO telling police officers that public backlash against the surveillance company is not real. Flock, which supplies automated license plate readers to law enforcement across the United States, has faced criticism from privacy advocates and communities over its camera networks. The recordings are fueling renewed scrutiny of the company's relationship with police and its attitude toward civil liberties concerns.
Why now: The leaked remarks contrast sharply with documented public criticism of Flock's surveillance network, drawing attention to the company's accountability.
