The Trump administration has asked Washington state to set aside hundreds of ballots cast by suspected noncitizen voters, according to a Guardian report. The move is part of the administration's broader push on voting by noncitizens and is likely to trigger a legal and political fight with Washington officials over election administration and voter eligibility.
Why now: Fresh federal action on election integrity ahead of or during election season, raising partisan and legal controversy
