San Francisco Seeks Robot-Dog Walkers at $20 an Hour
Original: San Francisco Is Looking For Robot-Dog Walkers For $20 An Hour
San Francisco is advertising jobs paying $20 an hour to walk robotic dogs, pairing the city's famous love of robot quadrupeds with an unusual take on the dog-walking gig economy. Reports from tech outlets say the roles involve handling and demonstrating the machines in public. Commenters are amused and skeptical, joking about what a robot dog actually needs from a walk and whether the pay matches the novelty.
Why now: The odd combination of a futuristic job, a low wage, and San Francisco's visible robot-dog culture makes it an easy story to share.
