San Francisco Offers $20 an Hour for Robot-Dog Walkers
Original: San Francisco Is Looking For Robot-Dog Walkers For $20 An Hour
San Francisco is hiring people to walk robot dogs at a pay rate of $20 per hour. The unusual job posting has drawn attention as an example of how robotic pets are moving from novelty demos into everyday public life, and of the strange new service jobs that come with them. Commenters are debating whether the pay is fair for what is effectively testing and demonstrating quadruped robots in public.
Why now: The odd combination of a futuristic robot and a mundane dog-walking job makes it an irresistible talking point.
