A new report suggests cats fed vegan diets may show an unexpected weight advantage compared to those on conventional meat-based food. The finding has caught attention in animal welfare and pet nutrition circles, where vegan cat diets remain controversial because cats are obligate carnivores. Supporters see it as evidence plant-based pet food can work; veterinarians urge caution over long-term health effects.
Why now: New findings challenge the assumption that cats must eat meat, fueling debate among vegan and pet nutrition communities.
