The rise of 'psychopatriarchy': a new term for systemic power
Original: We are seeing the rise of psychopatriarchy everywhere
Commentators are embracing the term 'psychopatriarchy' to describe what they see as a pathological form of patriarchal power spreading across politics and society. Writing in The Guardian, an author argues the concept links male dominance to broader systems, describing it as 'jet fuel' for racism, colonialism, imperialism and capitalism. The framing is generating debate about whether renaming systemic oppression helps or muddles feminist and anti-racist analysis.
Why now: A provocative new coinage linking patriarchy with racism, colonialism and capitalism is prompting discussion about systemic power.
