NASA to finish space station solar array upgrade with two spacewalks

Original: NASA nears end of space station solar array upgrade with Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 spacewalks

NASA astronauts will carry out spacewalks on October 29 and November 5 to install the final solar arrays in the International Space Station's power system upgrade. The rollout of new roll-out solar arrays is designed to boost the orbiting lab's aging power supply as the station approaches the end of its operational life later this decade.

Why now: The spacewalks mark the completion of a multi-year effort to upgrade the space station's power generation.
