NASA to finish ISS solar array upgrade with two spacewalks

Original: NASA nears end of space station solar array upgrade with Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 spacewalks

NASA is preparing two spacewalks, scheduled for October 29 and November 5, to complete the final stages of its International Space Station solar array upgrade. Astronauts will install new roll-out solar arrays that boost the station's ageing power system. The work marks the closing phase of a multi-year effort to modernize the orbiting laboratory's electricity supply before the station's planned retirement later this decade.

Why now: The upcoming spacewalks represent a milestone in NASA's long-running effort to upgrade the International Space Station's power infrastructure.
