Russia Claims 674 Ukrainian Aircraft Destroyed, Exceeding Ukraine's Fleet
Original: Russia Claims 674 Ukrainian Aircraft Destroyed. Ukraine Had 212 Total.
Russian officials claim 674 Ukrainian aircraft have been destroyed since the war began, a figure that exceeds the roughly 212 planes Ukraine possessed at the start of the conflict. Forbes highlights the arithmetic problem, suggesting Moscow's tally is inflated or that Ukraine has received significant Western-supplied aircraft. The discrepancy has drawn attention as a striking illustration of disputed wartime casualty claims.
Why now: The Russian claim exceeds Ukraine's known total fleet, making it a glaring example of questionable wartime propaganda figures.
